Primary care for the entire family

Aspen doctors provide Evaluation and Management services just like a family practice medical doctor. We are proud to be a central component in health care delivery and preventive medicine. Aspen doctors are trained to recognize, evaluate and manage common problems, and we value our duty to consult with other health care professionals when needed for the welfare of our patients.

At Aspen, we prescribe alternative medicine to treat a variety of illnesses, from colds and flu to high cholesterol. We emphasize the use of herbs and homeopathic drugs as well as medicinal whole foods and lifestyle changes. Aspen doctors also prescribe spinal and joint manipulation for musculoskeletal conditions as well as conventional exercise and rehabilitation programs, especially for athletes and for others who are injured in automobile or work-related accidents, or are recovering from surgery.

The Aspen experience engages each patient in the process of promoting health. This holistic approach to primary health care allows the patient to understand their health issues, take an active role in the healing process and learn how to safely and effectively maintain quality of life.

Chiropractic

Aspen doctors promote the general health effects of chiropractic care to relieve pain and remove interference with the nervous system thereby making the body more resistant to stress and disease. We use the standard chiropractic approach of early mobility, spinal manual therapy, education and exercise to manage acute and chronic illness or injury.

We are trained to assess normal range of movement in spinal joints because when normal motion is limited by some factor, this not only causes pain and muscle tension, but changes the capacity of the nervous system to maintain health generally. Biomechanical problems in spinal joints tend to focus stress on the extremities and the internal organs that receive nerve supply from that spinal level. This upsets the balance of normal function, causing symptoms. So, we examine the spinal joints for disturbed movement even in patients with arm and leg pain, or in patients with symptoms of asthma, gall bladder disease, stomach problems or constipation.

Aspen doctors use a wide variety of manual techniques to adjust the spinal joints and other joints in the body including the hand, wrist, elbow, shoulder, foot, ankle, knee and hip. We use hands-on techniques to discover the physical basis for joint and biomechanical muscle dysfunction, and we take pride in using specific joint adjustments tailored to the patient and the physical condition.

Sports injury rehabilitation

Aspen doctors know that sports injuries don't have an off season. We emphasize recovery, active care and self-management because these principles restore function without deconditioning and they are effective for preventing future injury.

We are expert in prescribing therapeutic stretching, therapeutic exercise and physical therapy modalities to promote biomechanical balance among muscle groups, and to increase strength and muscular endurance. Aspen doctors also advocate the use of acupuncture, massage therapy and herbal or homeopathic medicine for pain reduction and to facilitate healing injured tissues.

Whether you are an Olympic athlete, professional sportsman or woman, or recreational player, you can depend on Aspen to keep you "in the game." Our patients benefit from state-of-the-art rehabilitation and athletic training techniques prescribed by doctors who are also athletes.

Automobile accident injury

Aspen doctors are skilled and experienced in evaluating and treating all manner of injuries that result from motor vehicle collisions, including whiplash, back pain, seatbelt injuries, torn ligaments, concussion, contusions and healing bone fractures. Aspen doctors will coordinate your care and make referrals to the appropriate specialists, as your condition demands.

We routinely use standard orthopedic and neurologic diagnostic techniques to evaluate traumatic injuries. We also employ chiropractic diagnostic techniques that include skilled methods of palpation not taught in formal medical education. Aspen doctors follow evidence-based clinical treatment guidelines that describe your phase of treatment, duration, frequency and outcome markers. In addition, we comply with Oregon law when billing our services to your insurance company.

You can rely on the Aspen reputation for integrity in developing a necessary treatment plan, estimating future pain and physical limitations you may have and drafting a final medical report to share with your personal injury attorney. Aspen doctors will help you receive the care you need to resolve your injuries quickly, inexpensively and appropriately as possible.

Workers compensation claims

Aspen doctors of chiropractic are certified by the State of Oregon to be your Attending Physician when you are injured on-the-job. You can enter care without a referral at the beginning of your claim and you may be able to change doctors and come to Aspen after your claim is open. In many cases, medical doctors refer their patients to Aspen for treatment.

Aspen doctors treat a wide range of injuries that occur at work, including lifting injuries that cause sprains and strains, herniated disks in the back and neck, and carpal tunnel syndrome. Aspen doctors can authorize time-loss, disability status, work limitations and referrals for specialty care or extended treatment.

Research and clinical practice guidelines endorse chiropractic medicine by recommending spinal manipulation, non-prescription pain medication, exercise and early return to activities as the most effective and cost-effective management for most patients.
